The U.S.-China Health Products Association (USCHPA) is a U.S. non-profit 501c6 association dedicated to the overall natural health products industry including dietary supplements, organic foods, natural cosmetics, sports nutrition and traditional herbal products. The association’s primary focus is the continued development of China’s dietary supplement and overall natural health product industry. The association works closely with both government and industry to achieve its objective. USCHPA differs from other associations as it offers it members business related services to help them succeed in one of the most challenging markets in the world.
The U.S. – China Health Products Association is working towards the development of China’s natural health product industry by advocating for a more open and transparent regulatory environment. The association is committed to increasing the trade and availability of its member’s products and services, which will benefit the health and wellbeing of both industry and consumers alike.
Jeff Crowther – Executive Director
Since 1993, Mr. Crowther has been working in the natural health product industry. From 1993 – 2006, he worked with GNC and then NBTY. Making the move to China in 2005 as NBTY’s representative, he assisted in opening their first office in Beijing. In 2006, he took the position of Chief Representative to China for the Natural Products Association and worked under the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing. In 2010, he established USCHPA with founding members NSF and Jarrow Formulas and subsequently became its Executive Director.
Mr. Crowther is recognized as one of the foremost experts on China’s developing natural health product industry. He has published many articles on the subject in Nutraceuticals Magazine, Nutritional Outlook, Natural Products Insider, Nutrition Business Journal, etc. He has also produced numerous educational seminars in the U.S. and China in cooperation with such organizations as U.S. FDA, U.S. DOC, New Hope Media, Virgo Publishing (Informa), Chinese Ministry of Commerce, China Health Care Association, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Chinese Medicine Association and others in order to promote the natural health product industry.
Mr. Crowther received his BA degree from San Diego State University in Asian Studies and Mandarin Chinese.
Guo Jing (Summer) – Administrative and Regulatory Manager
Ms. Guo received her BS degree in Pharmaceutical Engineering from Jiangnan University and later received her MS degree in Regulatory Science from the University of Southern California (USC). Prior to joining the association, she worked as a regulatory affair coordinator at Vitatech Nutrition Sciences, Inc.(Tustin, CA). Ms. Guo has rich experience in regulatory affairs and R&D of health products as well as an expert understanding of China’s health product industry and its regulatory requirements. Ms. Guo is a native Chinese (Mandarin) speaker and is fluent in English.
Zhang Huapeng (Ben) – Scientific Affairs Manager
Mr. Zhang recieved his BS degree in Bio-engineering from Shandong Agricultural University and his MS degree in Nutritional Science from University of Michigan School of Public Health where he focused his research on “Maternal probiotic exposure on antimicrobial protein expression and intestinal microbiota in offspring”. He worked at the PLA General Hospital Cancer Center researching CHO cell strain dedifferentiation of recombinant antibody with high-level expression. Mr. Zhang also worked for Dairy giant Mengniu in their quality inspection department. He is also co-founder of Blue Health, a group of health professionals publishing lifestyle information as well as providing health consulting to those looking to lead a better quality of life.
Lin Yigu (Lilian) – Communications Manager
Ms. Lin has worked for a number of top domestic and global media companies operating in China. She received her BA in Journalism from Communication University of China.
Wang Duo (Carrie) – Translation / Interpretation
Ms. Wang graduated from Sichuan International Studies University majoring in International Politics. Having worked for Ogilvy and EASTWEST Public Relations firms as a Senior PR Associate, she has rich cross-industry PR communication experience. Her clients included Amazon, Experian, AGA Rangemaster, Smaato and IEEE Standard Association, etc.
Yang Wei (Alice) – Translation / Interpretation
Ms. Yang received her BA in English from Hunan Normal University and her MA in Communications from Beijing Normal University. She was a journalist for China’s Foeign Trade Magazine and held the position of Deputy Editing Director at the China Council for Promotion of International Trade.
