Looking through the startup brands that received capital in the past year, FBIF found an interesting phenomenon. Last year, ffit8 received 2 funding rounds, Food Lab received 2 funding rounds, and Sharkfit received 3 funding rounds. Although these three may not seem related, upon closer inspection, they all focus on high protein foods. At the same time, data show that there is still a large gap between the per capita protein intake and the standard in China. According to ffit8 founder Zhang Guangming, the national per capita protein intake is only about 40 grams, which is far below the demand of 70-110g for men and 65-90g for women, so there is still a lot of room for supplementing high protein foods.
