As the result of the ongoing coronavirus (covid-19), all expos and conference in February have been cancelled. For the health and nutrition industry there are a few major expos scheduled to take place in the coming months. Some have already been postponed and others are keeping a keen eye on the situation and will make decisions based on government regulations and public health and safety.

Food Ingredients China (FIC) is one of China’s largest expos for the food ingredient and additive industry held in Shanghai each year. The show is organized by China Food Additives & Ingredients Association (CFAA) and CCPIT Sub-Council of Light Industry.

Many of the association’s ingredient members sell to both food and supplement finished product manufacturers, so this is an important event for the food side of their business.

FIC was scheduled for March 17-19, 2020 but has been postponed “to a later date” according to their website. That later date confirmed by other sources is said to be taking place towards the end of June. Postponement Letter can be viewed HERE.

Natural Health and Nutrition Expo (NHNE), which is organized by ReedSinopharm Exhibitions in Shanghai. This is an important show for finished nutrition and supplement products. Each year the association hosts a successful pavilion for its finished products members.

The show was originally scheduled for April 8-10, 2020, but has been postponed until May 27-29, 2020. Postponement Letter can be viewed HERE.

Hi-Fi Asia China / HealthPlex NPC are both organized by Informa and held together in Shanghai. HealthPlex NPC is co-organized by China Chamber of Commerce (CCCMHPIE). This is China’s biggest all in one event that hosts not only ingredient manufacturers, but also finished products, packaging and other relevant segments of the health and nutrition industry.

It is scheduled for June 22 – 24, 2020 and thus far has not been postponed, many groups and doctors the association has spoken with feel everything in regard to covid-19 will go back to normal by May. So events scheduled in June shouldn’t be an issue.

The association is hosting its 2nd annual “Probiotics China Summit” in conjunction with its new “Omega-3 China Summit” on June 21, 2020 in Shanghai. Partners include International Probiotics Association (IPA), Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED), China Chamber of Commerce and Informa. HPA-China’s executive director Jeff Crowther, stated, “At this point the association has not postponed these events. HPA-China will follow China regulations as well as its on the ground partners’ lead. The association, its members and the general public are all eager to get back to work in China, but not at the risk to public safety.” (Source: HPA-China)
