According to a recent white paper regarding food safety released by the State Council, the nutrition and health situation of Chinese people have been improved dramatically.

First, Chinese people are getting access to a variety of diet options. People are consuming more animal products, vegetables and other non-grain products.

The report also shows that health situation of those in poverty has also been improved, partly thanks to the nutrition-promotion programs launched in those areas. (Source: Shuzheng Kangxun)
