Recently, the national market regulator launched a special campaign over online ads, which aims to spot the ads of illegal products and other substandard ads.

In the guidance released by the market regulator, the special campaign would target at portal websites, search engines and e-commerce platforms, and ads of medical products, drugs, health food, real estate and financial products. The regulators say punishment should be enhanced towards those related to illegal ads.

Substandard ads include those health products of medical products, drug and health food that have not gained official approval, those which assert the ratio of treatment and efficiency of relevant products, those which hire spokesman to recommend the products, and those exaggerate the effects of products.
