The Chinese internet giant Baidu Inc. recently said that it would develop medical business based on artificial intelligence.
Robin Li, the company’s founder, said that AI would change medical services. Baidu launched “baidu doctor” service in 2015, but already shut that down.
He said at a seminar earlier that though Baidu once was considering helping patient register in a Online-to-Offline way, but that did not involve much technology element, so the company did not develop that part of business.
The company would donate all-in-one AI-based fundus screening machine to 500 county-level medical agencies that would cover 56 million people that suffer from eye problems.
Besides Baidu, the other two local internet giants Alibaba and Tencent, also are developing medical businesses based on AI technology. (Source: it.people.com.cn)
