According to the health food industry consumption report for 2018 released by China’s Consumers Association, the entity warns consumers to be aware that most health food sold by vendors on Wechat are without guarantee of quality.

According to the report, the platform has received 950 complaint report cases regarding health food, with the value of 1.78 million yuan.
The major reasons of the complaints relate to ads, after-sales services and quality issues, which account for over 79% of all the reports.

Many are buying diet products from Wechat vendors, while the elderly consumers are mostly buying health food via marketing campaigns. However, the quality of the products bought via Wechat are without quality and service guarantee. (Source: info.food)
