On the morning of November, 16, the Beijing Market Regulating Bureau was officially set up.

The senior officials from Beijing Municipal government attended the launching ceremony. According to the work plan of Beijing’s government agency reform, the responsibilities of the original industry and commerce bureau, quality and technology monitoring bureau, the FDA, and the pricing monitoring as well as anti-monopoly duty of the development reform committee would all be incorporated into the new market regulating agency.

The new agency would also be designated as the general office of the city’s food and drug safety. (Source: people.com.cn)
