According to the Food Safety Law, health foods must be registered or filed.

The General Administration of Market Supervision emphasizes that at present, the regulatory authorities approve registered health foods to allow 27 functional health claims. The health foods legally filed allow the claimed health functions to be supplemented with vitamins and minerals.

The General Administration of Market Supervision stated that health food producers and operators should carry out label identification and publicity statements in strict accordance with the health functions registered or filed.
