According to the national health regulator, the incidence rate of chronic disease was up from 15.3% to 24.5% from 2003 to 2013, up by nearly 10% in a decade.
From 1990 to 2013, the death rate of chronic disease was down by 25%. The death rate of major chronic disease including high blood pressure and diabetes was down to below 25% from above 30% in 1990.
China has entered the aging society phase: in 1999, elderly people who age above 60 years old account for 10% of the total population. In 2014, people who age above 65 years old account for 10% of the total population.
