The latest guidance document of the structure and staffing of China’s General Customs was released earlier this month.

What should be notices is that the import and export food safety bureau, which used to be under the quality inspection bureau, is now under the General Customs.

The import and export food safety bureau has the rights to map out the institution relevant to import and export food, cosmetics safety and inspection. It shoulders the responsibility to manage registration of imported food companies, inspections of imported food and cosmetics, risk analysis of import and export food, and crisis management.
