Chinese internet behemoth Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. recently opened its first physical store for cross-border e-commerce platform Tmall HK in Hangzhou, as it takes advantage of preferential policies in the city due to its status as a national pilot city for the sector.
The store, located in the city’s Intime Department Store, which Hangzhou-based Alibaba acquired last year。 The store cover 300 square meters.
Products sold at this store were imported from 70 countries. Among 18000 foreign brands on Tmall’s platform, the company selected 1100 of them and put their products at the store, which include cosmetics, health food, food, maternity products, bags and glasses. The products are sold at the same price with that online.
As words on most of the product packages are in English, the store put screenings on the store to facilitate customers to look for Chinese information of the products and recommendations from online users for the products. (Source: 100ec)
