The provincial food and drug regulator of Guangdong said recently that it has shut down 20 food and health food shops that were suspected of conducing illegal marketing campaigns via holding meetings and seminars.

The regulator said that the problem of illegal marketing in the local food market has been curbed.

So far, the provincial authority has received 45 complaint reports from local consumers regarding illegal food and health food marketing campaigns. Among the reported shops, 20 have been shut down.

Thanks to the enhanced regulation, sales of marketing companies that violates regulations have dropped by 30% since the campaign started.
