Recently, the verdict given by local court of Shanghai to a food company, which was sued by a local consumer for selling health-care as general food, to pay the consumer ten times of wine’s price as compensation.
Several months ago, a consumer surnamed Zhao paid about 4000 yuan to buy 312 bottles of health-care wine online. Zhao claimed that he was sick after having the wine for several days without knowing that the wine contains ingredient from traditional Chinese medicines. Product of this kind should not take as regular alcohol.
Mr. Zhao then sued the wine’s company as it violated food safety law for adding ingredients from medicines to without informing the consumers. (Source: Shuzheng Kangxun)
