Starting December 2016, the national regulator of food and drug launched a one-year special campaign to specifically inspect issues regarding labels of infant formula products.
The campaign covers 126 production companies and 211,000 vendors as well as operators. The issues range from including words like “golden package “or “gold medal”, using words like “from natural pasture”or “imported dairy source, to claim to be “additive-free” etc.
Some products also illegally claim to be able to enhance immunity and intelligence.
The regulators have released over 5600 notices to inform relevant companies to modify labels based on regulations, which should be completed by the end of 2017. (Source: CFDA)
