Sun Meijun, deputy bureau chief of CFDA said at a recent conference that by the end of November, formula of 719 infant formula products have been approved, including 577 formulas by 77 local factories and 142 formula by 28 factories abroad.
Mr. Sun said that the CFDA will strive for approving 900 formulas to meet the market demand. This indicates an acceleration in approving food of special use in China by the state authority.
Bian Zhenjia, chief of China Nutrition and Health Food Association, said that the registration management system of health food has been implemented in China for 20 years, with 16,000 products approved. Since last July, China starts to implement dual-track management system for health food, making the market more vibrant than before. (Source: China Food Journal)
