According to the state regulator of food and drug, the general standard rate of spot checks over food of special use is over 98%.

The official data show that over 9000 kinds of health food are sold in the local market, which are produced by over 2600 companies with the value of 400 billion yuan.

In April, 2017, CFDA set up registration management department of special food, which ushered in a new chapter for the registration management of health food, food of special use and infant formula products. Since 2013, CFDA has conducted spot checks towards food of special use for years. All infant formula products have to pass tests by the companies before being put in to the market, and the regulators conduct spot checks each month, with a standard rate of 98.7%.
