1.The Market with the Greatest Potential in the World
After experiencing the six-year adjusting period from 2003 to 2008, the Chinese Health Food sector enters into a period of orderly development since 2009. In the same year, with a total market value of 13.4 billion US dollars, China’s health food market ranked second in the world. In 2009, the import and export volume of the Chinese health products reached 200million dollars, up by 3.1% year on year, among which, the export volume stood at 89.1million dollars, up by 2.2% year on year, and the import volume totaled 110 million dollars, an increase of 3.9% year on year. By the end of 2009, while the market share of the Chinese health products accounted for only 5% in the whole healthcare system, the great development potential ahead was not to be neglected. It is estimated that by 2015, the Chinese health products market will overtake the U.S. to be the largest in the world with a total value of 66 billion US dollars. However, for the time being, the market share is still too small especially when comparing to the US health products market share which stands at nearly 16.18 billion US dollars now. It still takes more time before China can further improve the product mix and distribution network of its health products market.

2.The Sector Facing the Great Opportunity of Integration and Optimization
With the Catalogue of Drugs for Basic National Medical Insurance and Countermeasures releasing in 2009 and the healthcare system kept on improving ever since, more and more pharmaceutical enterprises have now considered the health sector as a new profit-making field. One after another, they all try to seek a place in this sector by exploiting their R&D advantages and leveraging their original resources. And those that have already entered into the market are in a constant move to change tactics and face up to the new challenges. Therefore, it is expected that in the years ahead, the market will become increasingly competitive; the competent and visionary enterprises will occupy favorable situation in the competition, and preliminary products featured by low technological content and added-value will have to give way to quality products. The future market will definitely keep on integrating in an orderly fashion.

3.Quality Products, Quality Life
Considering the reality of the Chinese health products sector and the aim of launching a high-level, enterprise-oriented event, efforts have been made to invite renowned and highly reputed Chinese and foreign enterprises to guarantee the quality of the event. Corporate development orientation, product R&D and market demand, distribution and marketing network as well as product registration and certification will be discussed during the event. Quality and featured products overseas will also be introduced to diversify people’s consumption choices and improve the product mix. Instead of being a mere business event, the expo focuses on the healthy way of life and health-related concepts. Through lectures and therapy experience programs, the expo helps to spread health knowledge and consumption ideas, serving as guideline for people’s everyday life.

4.Great Collaborators Make Great Event
Both as hosts of this event, China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE) and the Trade Development Bureau of Ministry of Commerce are competent and professional organizations with rich exhibition experiences. Affiliated to MOFCOM, the Trade Development Bureau is a foreign trade policies enforcement body to serve China’s grand business strategies. It is a professional organization to implement China’s foreign trade policies, promote foreign trade, and provide efficient services for foreign trade enterprises. As one of the six MOFCOM-affiliated import and export chambers, CCCMHPIE is the most authoritative industry association in the health sector with over 2500 members. Now CCCMHPIE has enjoyed long-standing and steady cooperation relationships with government bodies, industry associations, trade promotion organizations and world renowned enterprises from ROK, Japan, the U.K., the U.S., Germany, Spain, Russia, Greece, ASEAN countries and the Southeast Asian nations. It has made unremitting efforts to develop the Chinese enterprises, expand international market, foster product R&D and promote investment and cooperation.

In a joint endeavor by the two hosts, organizations, industry associations and trade promotion institutions of countries and regions such as Japan, Korea, the U.S., Singapore, the U.K., Switzerland and Hongkong will be invited to present a truly international and leading event. By targeting the domestic and foreign market, serving the indigenous and international brands, the expo will be a great event with high quality and huge influence in the pharmaceutical sector.
